MECE Held Symposium with Vehicle Engineering Students from Kenya
On 5th April, 2017, Prof. Guo Sheng, Vice-dean from MECE, together with Prof. Liu Zhiming, head of Vehicle Engineering Department, hosted a symposium in the conference room for the 10 overseas students from Kenya. Also, other faculty members including Associate Professor Duan Zhipeng, Lu Lingyun, Li Ping and Li Lulin (the head teacher in overseas students class on Vehicle Engineering) attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Prof. Guo Sheng extended cordial welcome to the newly-arrived students from Kenya. He also confirmed that our school would help Kenyan students in their studies and lives. Meanwhile, he places great hope in them. He wished that those 10 students could complete their studies here successfully and make contribution to the development of Kenyan railway in the future.
Afterwards, Prof. Liu Zhiming elaborated on the training plan of Vehicle Engineering project for Kenyan students. He also cared about the recent conditions of Kenyan students as well as their understanding of Vehicle Engineering. Besides, Prof. Liu hoped that students could learn by heart the principle of “Harmony of Knowledge and Practice”, the school motto of BJTU, and put into practice the knowledge they have learned in the future.
On the symposium, students felt free to express their ideas. They shared their experiences and feelings in China. They had confronted some obstacles, though. So they raised some questions and asked for help. As a response, teachers from MECE answered their questions. Teachers also put forward their suggestions on the cultivation of overseas students.
In the end, Prof. Guo decided to further analyze the suggestions mentioned in the meeting by teachers and students. Meanwhile, he made it sure that MECE will actively cooperate with the education department and guarantee high teaching quality.
