Prof. Zhu Quan-min from UWE gave an academic lecture in MECE
In December 26, 2017, Prof. Zhu Quan-min, from University of the West of England (UWE), gave an academic lecture entitled “Dealing with nonlinearities in dynamic system, modelling, identification and control --- linear approaches” in MECE; Prof. Wang Shuang-xin was presented at the lecture and hosted it. Associate Prof. Qi Hong-yuan, Dr. Dong Li-jing and other teaching faculties attended this lecture as well as graduate students from relevant majors.
Prof Zhu Quan-min is a professor of mathematics, design and Engineering Department of UWE. In 1989, he received his Ph.D. degree from University of Warwick in England. In 1994, Prof Zhu Quan-min completed the post doctoral study at the University of Sheffield automatic control and systems engineering department, which his research topic "analysis and identification of nonlinear systems".
Prof Zhu Quan-min innovative put forward the design method of nonlinear control system based on U-model, so that a variety of mature and effective linear control systems can be directly used for the design of a wide range of smooth nonlinear control systems. He published more than 200 papers and 6 monographs which were widely quoted. Prof Zhu Quan-min has completed more than 15 projects, including Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), National Natural Science Foundation of China and various foundations or business projects. In addition, Prof Zhu Quan-min is the founder and former chairman of the Chinese Automation Association of UK, the founder and editor of the International Journal of modeling, identification and control and the corresponding series of Elsevier series. He also serves as the founder and chairman of the International Conference on modeling, identification and control. He is a founding member of British Chinese Life Science Society and a judge of the committee of EPSRC.
Prof Zhu Quan-min is actively engaged in promoting the exchange and development of Chinese and British academic, educational, cultural and other aspects. He presided the Sino British cooperation projects. His team has received many Chinese visiting scholars and trained dozens of master and doctoral students from China.
In this academic lecture, Prof. Wang Shuang-xin first briefly introduced the general information and academic achievements of Prof. Zhu Quan-min. Then Prof. Zhu Quan-min primarily talked about frontiers of modeling, identification and control of dynamic nonlinear systems by using the method of linearization.
