“Meeting the Master” Top Academic Forum Dr. NIMA SHOKRI from the University of Manchester gave an academic lecture in MECE
Dr. NIMA SHOKRI, School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical science, University of Manchester paid an academic communication visit at MECE in the afternoon of March 29, 2018. He was welcomed and received by Prof. Meiqian Chen, A talk was proceeded by both parties with an amiable and friendly atmosphere in the afternoon of March 29.
Dr. NIMA SHOKRI gave an academic lecture entitled “Complex dynamics of saline water evaporation from porous media” in our school. Prof. Meiqian Chen was presented at the lecture and hosted it.
Dr. NIMA received his BS and MS in mechanical engineering of Iran Sharif Polytechnic University from 1999 to 2006 and got his Ph.D from mechanics of Solids and Fluids of Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland, from 2006 to 2009. Currently, Dr. NIMA SHOK acts as the senior lecturer in the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical science, University of Manchester, the chairman of the Early Career Award Committee of the American Society of Soil Sciences and the Publication Committee of Interpore. He is the associate editor of the Advances in Water Resources and Transport in Porous Media. The research interests of Dr. NIMA are water evaporation, salinization, pollutant transport and remediation in soil. He has officiated so many technological projects and research. More than 20 doctoral and master students have received his guide to get their degrees.
In this academic lecture, Prof. Meiqian Chen first briefly introduced the general information and academic achievements of Dr. NIMA SHOKRI. Then Dr. NIMA SHOKRI talked about the Complex Dynamics of Saline Water Evaporation from Porous Media. The lecture mainly covered topics on the fundamentals of saline water evaporation from porous media and physics of salt transport and precipitation in porous media and its complex dynamics. The Q&A round after the lecture boosted a warm and friendly ending of this academic activity, teachers and students from correlating majors enthusiastically communicate with Dr. NIMA SHOKRI for details and critical questions of these topics.
At last, Prof. Chen presented a souvenir for the Dr. NIMA, and posed for a picture. The academic communication event was successfully closed.
