Mechanical Engineering of MECE ranks the world’s top 150 in 2018 "Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects"

The 2018 "Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects" is officially released on July 17, 2018. This release contains rankings of universities in 54 subjects across Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences. Mechanical Engineering of MECE ranks the world’s top 150.

2018 "Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects" uses a series of objective indicators to rank world universities including PUB (The number of papers authored by an institution in an Academic Subject), CNCI (Category Normalized Citation Impact from InCites to measure average impact of papers authored by an institution in an Academic Subject), IC (The percentage of internationally co-authored papers authored by an institution in an Academic Subject), TOP (The number of papers published in top journals and conferences in an Academic Subject), AWARD (The total number of the staff of an institution winning a significant award in an Academic Subject). etc. There are differences in selection of indicators and the weights of indicators for different subjects. Compared with 2017, the number of subjects in this ranking has increased from 52 to 54, and more than 4,000 universities were ranked.

This ranking has been published and copyrighted by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy. Although the initial purpose was to find the global standing of top Chinese universities, it has attracted a great deal of attention from universities, governments and public media worldwide. "Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects" has been reported by mainstream media in almost all major countries. Hundreds of universities cited the ranking results in their campus news, annual reports or promotional brochures.
